For people with disabilities in Ireland, living independently comes with a price: it often means skipping meals, social isolation and depending on strangers online for help. The cost-of-living crisis has dealt a particularly heavy blow to people and carers who are not able to work full-time and are too young to receive additional benefits. The weekly Disability Allowance of €220 does not cover the additional costs of living with a disability.
