When the pandemic struck in 2020, for Ireland’s 135,000 farms, it was business as usual. But for the young men and women who were suddenly at home on the farm, away from school and college during lockdowns, it was time to bring farming to social media. Videos shared by young people on the app TikTok of daily life on their family farms — from spreading slurry to training sheepdogs —captured attention globally. ‘FarmTok’ was born.
