A Florida woman Tuesday sued Character.AI, an app where people message with personalized chatbots in hyperrealistic interactions, claiming the app contributed to her son’s suicide. Megan Garcia also sued Character’s co-founders Noam Shazeer and Daniel De Freitas, as well as Google, which in August paid Character about $2.7 billion in a licensing fee and rehired Shazeer and De Freitas.
