In case there were any doubt that Nina Carberry is keeping more than busy since her retirement from horse racing, it turns out she’s a bit too tied up to talk at the appointed time. In the few minutes before we’re due to speak word comes through that she’s had to shift our interview by two hours. When she does finally appear she’s on her phone (we are on Zoom) and ready to discuss the latest reinvention in a career that has seen her move from the muck of the race track, to the sequins of the dance floor, the camaraderie of Ireland’s Fittest Family, and now to the discipline of the writing desk and the crowded market of children’s publishing.
